Convicted sex offender Jason Moore from Powys in Wales has been jailed for 15 months for downloading an additional 114 images of horrific child sexual abuse containing Category A, B, and C images.

Jason Moore (previously convicted under the name of Leon Barry Shinkwin in May 2023) was sentenced to 15 months at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court earlier this month for four offences of making offensive images of child sexual abuse.

In April 2022, Jason Moore was discovered with 122 category A images (the most serious kind), 47 category B images, and 231 category C images across two devices. These included still pictures of the rape and sexual abuse of a girl aged between two and four years old. 

Six months after Jason Moore’s arrest in November 2022, police found an additional device containing 114 Category A images, including the rape of a girl between two and four by two men, as well as 36 Category B and 171 Category C.

Moore received a total of 15 months for the category A, B and C images.

59-year-old Peter Marrington of Woolmer Road, North London has been jailed for 21 years after being found guilty of historic child sexual abuse dating back to the 1980s and continuing into the early 2000s. 

Three women had come forward to accuse Peter Marrington of sexual abuse, including rape, when they were little girls – the youngest of them being just six when she was first abused. 

The trial, which took place on Monday, the 19th of August at Chelmsford Crown Court found Peter Marrington guilty of three counts of child rape and four counts of indecent assault; he was sentenced to 21 years in prison and was also issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Marrington was initially investigated and arrested in 2016 after a report was received by Essex Police outlining Marrington’s child sexual abuse from the 1980s to the early 2000s. Peter Marrington denied the allegations against him. It has taken eight years for Peter Marrington’s victims to see their abuser jailed. 

Speaking after the trial, PC Christopher Longhurst, investigating officer in the case said:

“It takes a strong person to wait eight years for their perpetrator to be found guilty of the horrendous crimes he’d put them through.

“Each of these victims have been patient throughout the delays in court and I’d like to commend them for their patience and strength. Their bravery has meant that this dangerous man is unable to harm anyone else.”

Paisley Paedophile Scott Cuthberston Shares Child Abuse Material on Snapchat

Scott Cuthbertson from Paisley, Scotland has been arrested after Scottish Police raided his home and phone category A sexual material on his phone. 

Scott Cuthbertson, aged 21 at the time, shared severe child abuse material on the social media platform Snapchat in July 2021. Scotland Police raided the paedophile’s home in October 2022 and seized his device to run a thorough analysis.

The digital forensic report was carried out and discovered three images and one video depicting child sexual exploitation and abuse on the paedophile’s iPhone. Scott Cuthbertson was in possession of Category B and C images of female children aged between eight and 15 years old. 

Upon his arrest, Scott Cuthbertson did not explain why he was in possession of child abuse imagery and answered ‘no comment’ to all questions. 

Defence agent Anthony Boland told the court that Cuthbertson has been on bail for his possession of child abuse imagery but had had “no problems” since October 2022.

Sheriff Clare Arias deferred Cuthbertson’s sentencing to prepare background reports and assess Cuthbertson’s suitability for a restriction of liberty order assessment.

Scott Cuthbertson has been placed on the sex offenders’ register and the outcome of his case will be determined at his sentencing on the 30th of July.

Stephen McIlwrath Acquitted at Craigavon Crown Court

Famous Irish guitar maker Stephen McIlwrath, who made guitars for Bruce Springsteen and Ed Sheeran, has been acquitted of an upskirting offence at Craigavon Crown Court. Despite the 63-year-old from Lisburn, Northern Ireland, admitting he had filmed an upskirting video involving a schoolgirl, evidence has come to light that the offence may have happened outside of the jurisdiction, in Dublin, China, or Singapore.

While Stephen McIlwrath will not be charged for the upskirting offence, Judge Patrick Lynch KC told the jury that Stephen McIlwrath has entered guilty pleas to charges of having “illegal images of children and will be sentenced in due course” McIlwrath entered guilty pleas to 11 charges of possessing and making indecent images of children and while count one states he had 175 indecent images, the defence contend that he only had 40 images.

According to the defence, Stephen McIlwrath did not save indecent images of children and teenagers on his devices for sexual gratification, but rather to alert the authorities where he found them. Stephen McIlwrath told the court “I’m on your side.” This defence was not accepted. 

McIlwrath is currently on bail, details of his sentencing are yet to be released.

54-year-old Anthony Stocks from Oxfordshire has been convicted of offences including rape and attempting to murder a young boy in 2022. 

Earlier this month, Stocks was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault including rape of a girl under the age of 13. Frightened and upset, Stock’s victim told her brother about the heinous sexual abuse; the boy tried to interfere and Stocks attempted to silence him by pushing him off a cliff near Ovingdean. 

The boy miraculously survived the 100ft drop but suffered severe injuries as a result. 

On the day the boy was pushed off the cliff, Anthony Stocks, who was known to the family, had taken the boy to see a football game. Stocks had asked the boy if he wanted to “go see a view” before taking him to the cliff near Brighton where he then pushed him.

After Stocks was arrested, thousands of pornographic pictures and videos on his phone were discovered, despite being “legal” according to his council. The jury also discussed Stock’s internet searches, which showed he had watched films about adults having sex with younger people.

Anthony Stocks is yet to be sentenced for attempted murder, rape and other offences of child sexual abuse.

Simon Taplin first abused his victim who cannot be named for legal reasons in 1996, when she was in her teens. Over the next four years, the former cadet leader continued to abuse her. 

Another woman came forward in the investigation, declaring that she too was abused by Simon Taplin. When she was a teenager, the court heard how Simon Taplin had sexually abused her at a cadet event. 

Simon Taplin was sentenced to four and a half years in prison and will also be put on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Who is Rebbeca Joynes? 

Former maths teacher Rebecca Joynes has been found guilty of six counts of sexual activity involving two teenage schoolboys. Paedophile Rebecca Joynes, who had just come out of a nine-year relationship, was said to be ‘flattered’ by the attention she received from the two schoolboys. 

Joynes was on bail for sexual activity with the first child, boy A, when she began having sex with the second, boy B, who she went on to become pregnant by. 

Rebecca Joynes was initially suspended from the school in October 2021 after a report to Childline revealed that she had slept with a 15-year-old student. Rebecca Joynes arranged to pick the boy up and take him to the Trafford Centre while he was supposed to be in school; she bought the boy a £345 Gucci belt before taking him back to her apartment to have sex.

Rebecca Joynes was arrested in October 2021 but was released on bail under the condition that she would not contact anyone under 18. However, while the allegations about the first victim were being investigated, Joynes was in contact with the other boy on social media. She groomed him like she did her first victim, and fell pregnant. 

Rebecca Joynes was found guilty by a majority verdict at Manchester Crown Square Court in May 2024. The sexual predator school teacher will be sentenced at a later date when she will face the consequences of her actions.
